Floyd Jr. Earns More Recognition, Rink to LaSalle, Montgomery Signs, Westry to West Texas
More Recognition for Corey Floyd Jr.
Corey Floyd, Jr., was named the recipient of the Jackie Robinson Award at Providence College, the school announced recently.
The award was established in 2025 by Athletic Director Steve Napolillo. It honors a student athlete who “inspires teammates, coaches and members of the Friar community to strive for excellence, show respect, and bring out the best in others.
“Like Jackie Robinson himself, this individual leads by example, demonstrating integrity, perseverance and a commitment to uplifting those around him.”
Corey has been invited to play in the Impact Basketball annual “Pro Day” later this month in Las Vegas.
Eunique Rink Signs with LaSalle
Eunique Rink will be moving from Hampton University to La Salle University for the 2026-27 college basketball season.
The 6’10” incoming junior, from Newark, NJ, decided to move to the Philadelphia school after two seasons at Hampton, where he shot 63% from the field and blocked a team-leading 22 shots.
“I’m excited to be attending La Salle University and to play for Coach Darris Nichols,” said Eunique. “I can’t wait to go to the school and get ready to play in the A10.”
“We are excited about Eunique,” said Coach Nichols. “His mix of offensive and defensive versatility will make an impact on the team. He comes from great programs and his personality will fit well in our family environment.”
Bo Montgomery Signs with IPZ/Players Group
Bo Montgomery, who played this season for USK Praha in the top-tier Czech Republic NBL basketball league, has signed with IPZ and Players Group for professional representation.
Last season, Bo averaged 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4 assists and one steal for Praha as one of the team’s leaders.
Bo moved to the Czech Republic team after a summer league run with the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. The 6’5” guard from Memphis played collegiately at Holy Cross College and UNC/Wilmington, averaging 9.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2 assists during his five seasons.
“We are excited to have Bo join our roster,” said Torey Thomas, IPZ Assistant Director of Basketball Operations and Recruiting. “He’s a really great guard that has athleticism, scoring ability and can pass the ball. He’s a high IQ player who will be an asset to any team.”
Jamir Westry Heads to West Texas CC
Newark’s Jamir Westry, coming off his first college season at Garden City Community College in Kansas, will play next season for Western Texas Community College.
The 5’11” incoming sophomore played at Payne Tech and College Achieve Prep in New Jersey, before heading to Garden City, where he averaged 9 points per game on 45% shooting. He also had a team-leading 61 steals, while also dishing out 153 assists.
Known for his speed on the court, Jamir is looking forward to the move to Texas.
“I chose West Texas because they will be putting me in the right position to elevate my game, and get to the next level,” said Jamir. “I’m coming in focused, ready to work, and determined to prove I belong, while helping my team.”
