Delonnie Hunt on Fire, A Legacy at Providence, Jamir Westry's Solid Season

Delonnie Hunt is on Fire

Delonnie Hunt has been lighting it up for the KK Dinamo in Zagreb, Croatia.  In the team’s last two games, Delonnie has scored 77 points – a career high 44 in a 99-94 win at Split; and then 33 in an 87-80 home win over Zabok, two of the league’s top teams.

Next up is another SuperSport Premier League game against Cibona, before heading to England for a European North Basketball League match against Manchester on March 25th.

“I’m just happy that my career high came in a win, which makes the accomplishment a lot better and more memorable,” said Delonnie.  “I just had it rolling in the first half and wanted to stay aggressive in order to give us the best chance at winning.”

Delonnie is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 17 points per game, while adding five rebounds and five assists from the point guard position.

A Legacy at Providence

It wasn’t the way Corey Floyd, Jr., had hoped his final season at Providence College would go, but he wouldn’t trade his four years as a Friar.

“My four years at Providence was everything,” said Corey. “I feel like I grew up in Providence going from 18 to 22.  I learned valuable life lessons on and off the court that I know will stick with me forever. I am forever grateful for what Providence has given me in a second home.”

Corey missed a number of games this year, first with a concussion, and later with a hamstring injury that he attempted to play through in the Big East tournament.  He finished the season averaging 7.6 points per game, while adding 4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 43% from the field.

Jamir Westry's Solid Season

Despite missing eight games with an injury that he fought through during the second half of the season, Jamir Westry put up solid numbers in his first season of NCAA Junior College play at Garden City Community College in Nebraska.

In 23 games, Jamir averaged 9 points per game, shooting 45% from the field and 70% from the line.  He added four assists per game, and was among the conference leaders with two steals per game.

“This season helped me develop both as a guard and a competitor,” Jamir said.  “I’m thankful for the opportunity and the lessons that came with it. I’m excited to keep improving my game and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”

The Broncbusters finished the season with a 17-14 record, losing in the opening round of the NJCAA Division 1 Plains District Tournament.  Jamir had 11 points in the finale, on 5 of 8 shooting from the field.
